I made a payment two days ago at the bank machine and I do not see it in my ACORN account – what’s wrong?

A   No cause for alarm!  It normally takes five business days, sometimes longer, for the bank to process a payment and the amount to be updated to your University account.  Check your account again in a few days.  We do receive updates daily from the bank.
If you want to use online or telephone banking, make sure you set up the arrangement with your bank first.  Your account number is displayed on your account on the ACORN (invoice format). It consists of the first five characters of your surname (in capital letters) and 10 numbers which is your student number with leading zeroes.  Make sure you distinguish between the letter 'O' and the number 'zero'.

Can I pay my fees by credit card?

A  The University of Toronto has partnered with Moneris (service provider) to provide students with an online credit card payment option.
The online Mastercard and Visa Canadian Dollar fee payment service is only available on ACORN and includes a separate and NON-REFUNDABLE convenience fee collected directly by Moneris.
More information about the service can be viewed at Making a Fee Payment and Credit Card Payment FAQs.

You have charged me for 2 programs: I am only registered in one.

A   Fees are assessed for all programs on your academic record.  Student Accounts can not simply adjust the fee charges; your academic record must be corrected first.  You need to cancel the ‘invited’ status for the program in which you do not plan to register.  You should do this as soon as you see it on your invoice format on ACORN and before you make a payment.  Cancel the unwanted program using the Student Web Service (ROSI).  Select Financial Accounts from the main menu, then select Cancel Program of Study and follow the instructions.  When the cancellation is processed, the program charges should be reversed in your account.  Check your account using ACORN to make sure it reflects the changes you want.

Why do I have to pay incidental fees?  I don’t use the health service/athletic facilities/ Hart House etc.

A   Incidental fees are a compulsory part of your tuition.  The campus fees are set on the understanding that all students will contribute to the cost of these services.  The student society fees are set by the student members of the society.  There are some components of some student society fees that can be refunded upon request, within a specific time period.  For more information and links concerning compulsory non-academic incidental fees and the applicable policies, regulations and relevant approval processes at the University of Toronto see www.viceprovoststudents.utoronto.ca. Check the website section ‘Student Society Fee Rebates/Optouts'.

Why isn’t my scholarship showing on my account?

A   Your scholarship will not be posted to your account until late September or October, after you have registered.  If the scholarship covers the required minimum payment required for registration, you may request a deferral of payment in order to register.  See the website section "Financial Arrangements" for instructions. If the scholarship does not cover the minimum payment, then pay the minimum payment or the total tuition amount, less the amount of the scholarship, in order to register.
